Time Saving Meal Prep Methods

Busy lives often call for quick meals. Now that schools are back in session, some Americans do not have the time or energy to make a wholesome lunch or dinner from scratch each day. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your time when it comes to food prep.

1) Purposeful Leftovers: Go the distance with bulk cooking. Choose meals that freeze well and make extra batches to save in the refrigerator for a few days later or in the freezer for a quick meal in a few weeks.

2) Base Ingredient Doubling: When cooking ingredients that can be incorporated into other meals, such as beans, rice, oats, chicken, etc… Save time on future meals by doubling or tripling the amount that you prepare and storing appropriately.

3) Multi-Batching: Take a day to cook several different kinds of meals all at once. Cook on the stovetop while chicken and potatoes are roasting in the oven. Mix up hummus in your blender while soup is simmering on the stove. Save time on kitchen cleanup by doing everything at once.

4) Share With Friends: Cook with your friends or start a meal-swap. You will enjoy spending your time socializing while concurrently creating meals.
