Sugar By Any Other Name

Label reading can be confusing.  Some might say it’s from stricter labeling laws or the food industry’s attempts to confuse and deceive.

Whatever the reason for the confusion, if we are going to consume what is in the package and we are interested in our health, then we need to know what we’re putting into our mouths.

Refined sugars…

· High-fructose corn syrup    · Fructose

· Glucose    · Sorbitol    · Maltodextrin

· Mannitol

…do not provide good nutrition.

High-fructose corn syrup is the worst of all. One of its many pitfalls is that it does not stimulate the hormone that tells our brain we’re full. This leads to overeating and obesity.
